Join the Loveland Opera Theatre for an evening of Rodgers and Hammerstein as they present their “live-streaming” Rodgers and Hammerstein Jubilee concert on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at 7 pm MST. The concert will be streaming live from the historic Rialto Theater stage in downtown Loveland. The Rodgers and Hammerstein production is in lieu of LOT’s originally scheduled fall production of Brigadoon.
The music of Oscar Hammerstein and Richard Rodgers is timeless – not just because their melodies have been sung generation after generation and are just as popular today as they were when they were written, but also because their ability to capture humanity is timeless. Rodgers and Hammerstein understood people and their need for love and connection as well as their struggle with justice and hope. Although many of their songs were written over a half-century ago, their themes of facing adversity head-on, learning to respect each others’ differences, and the importance of human connection and relationships resound throughout their songs and musical theater shows and still speak to us today. Loveland Opera Theatre will be exploring these timeless messages throughout this concert as we hear well-known and some not-so-well-known songs from the Rodgers and Hammerstein repertoire.
Soloists include Emily Morris and Anna Piper, sopranos; Dana Kinney and Caitlin Moore, mezzo-sopranos; Nathan Snyder, tenor; and Schyler Vargas, baritone along with the Loveland Opera Theatre Chorus who will perform virtually. The live stream concert will allow viewers to get a “behind the curtain” glimpse into the Rialto and intermission interviews from Loveland Opera Theatre members and staff.
